Every Thursday night at Smash Palace, from 7-11pm. Motivate your muso mates or just turn up — everything’s set up and ready to go. Let’s jam!  Free entry. 

Fusion Bellydance
Every Thursday at 5.45pm. Join vibrant and fun Fusion Bellydance classes in the lovely Wild Earth home studio. The
first class is free. Tribal bellydance classes are held on Sundays at 10.30am. Classes $10.

Karaoke
Fridays at Breakers’ Jandal Bar, 8pm.

UNI-FI, The Volt Thieves + Flesh Merchant and Rise the Wicked
Smash Palace, Friday, 7pm. UNI_FI celebrate their 10th birthday. Tickets $15.

 Christmas Show at the Aviary Collective
Featuring 14 artists/designers with local connections. Artworks, ceramics, jewellery, 10am-2pm Sat & Sun, weekdays 10am-4pm,

The Band School Concert
 Hear students on Sunday playing a mix of modern and classic songs, Lawson Field Theatre, 12-2pm, free entry.

Caroling Catastrophe
Murder Mystery by Dorothy Fletcher. Featuring The Usual Suspects. Unity Theatre December 7-9, 7.30pm, December 10, 4pm.

Christmas Street Festival
Fun for all the whānau. Food trucks, craft stalls, floats built on-site and on display (theme Beach Days), Santa from 2pm. Worst-Christmas-jersey competition, twinkle light tunnel, face painting, games, carols and fashion parade on a candy-cane runway. Organised by Tairāwhiti Adventure Trust, 12 noon-6pm, Grey St Skate Park.

G&I Duo
Gisborne Tairāwhiti RSA, Friday, 7pm. Come along and party with our all-time favorite duo G&I. Members, their guests and affiliates all welcome.

The Millard Studio

Tairāwhiti Museum until Sunday January 28. This exhibition displays many fine portraits taken in the early 1900s, costumes of the time and significant locals and groups are reprinted in large format to show their glamour and detail. The Millard studio was established in 1915.

Rima Tekau - Melanie Tahata

Rima Tekau is a sharing and expression of whānaungatanga, of toi Māori and most importantly, aroha. Sharing this milestone in her creative life-path, multi-disciplinary artist Melanie Tahata has curated  a solo exhibition of whānau archives alongside a selection of older and recent works. Ends December 10.

He Kākahu Rerehua |The Uplifting Wind weaves together an exhibition, collection care project and wānanga in one space.
