The Truman Show

Truman Burbank lives in a fictional town called Seahaven inside a giant dome and has featured in a television reality show since he was born. Gradually, Truman realises he is living in a made-up town, but show creator Christof cannot afford to lose him. Stars Jim Carrey, Ed Harris and Laura Linney. Australian Peter Weir directed, and New Zealander Andrew Niccol wrote the screenplay.

The Boys in the Boat

George Clooney stayed behind the camera instead of in front of it. He directed and co-produced this film adaptation of Daniel James Brown’s non-fiction book of the same name. The film follows the development of the University of Washington men’s eight rowing crew that represented the United States at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Callum Turner and Joel Edgerton star.

Night Swim

After a family move into a new house, they find an unknown supernatural presence haunts the backyard swimming pool. Bryce McGuire directed the film from his own screenplay of a story he and his friend Rod Blackhurst wrote. It was based on a five-minute film they made in 2014.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Jason Momoa, Ben Affleck and Patrick Wilson feature as Aquaman balances his duties as king and as a member of the Justice League, all while planning a wedding. Black Manta is seeking Atlantean tech to help rebuild his armour, and Orm plots to escape his Atlantean prison.

Adam Driver plays Italian automaker Enzo Ferrari, who puts everything into the 1957 1000-mile Mille Miglia in a bid to revive the fortunes of his company. Directed by 80-year-old master filmmaker Michael Mann, the movie hones in on Ferrari’s fraught relationship with his wife, Laura (Penélope Cruz), following the death of their 13-year-old son.
