Wonka

Paddington writer-director Paul King directed and co-wrote this origin story of Willy Wonka, a character in the Roald Dahl book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Stars Timothée Chalamet (Dune), Matt Lucas, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Grant, Jim Carter and Olivia Colman.

Silent Night

Action master John Woo returns to Hollywood filmmaking with a revenge flick that has almost no dialogue. Joel Kinnaman plays an electrician whose young son is killed in the crossfire of a drive-by shooting in a gang war. Rendered speechless by a bullet to the neck, the father spends a year recovering and preparing himself for a Christmas Eve rampage of vengeance.

Wish

Disney animated musical fantasy film that focuses on a 17-year-old girl, Asha, who makes a wish so powerful that it’s answered by a cosmic force, a little ball of boundless energy called Star. With Star’s help, Asha must save her kingdom from King Magnifico and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen. Features the voice talents of Ariana DeBose, Chris Pine, Alan Tudyk and Angelique Cabral. Seven of the characters were inspired by the dwarfs in the classic Disney film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

The Boy and the Heron (dubbed)

Critically acclaimed anime from director Hayao Miyazaki, with the voice talents of Christian Bale, Dave Bautista and Willem Dafoe.

The Old Oak

The Old Oak is the last remaining pub in a village in the English north-east, where the mine has closed and people feel deserted by the system. Housing is cheap and available, making the village ideal for Syrian refugees. They meet anger and resentment, but a joint venture brings hope. Directed by Ken Loach.

Sports comedy-drama film directed and co-written by Taika Waititi. Based on a documentary about Dutch-American coach Thomas Rongen’s efforts to knock the infamously terrible American Samoa national football team into shape for the 2014 World Cup  qualification games. Stars Michael Fassbender, Oscar Kightley, Rachel House and Will Arnett.

Director Ridley Scott focuses on the swift rise to power of Napoleon Bonaparte, as well as his relationship with Empress Josephine.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes

Years before he becomes the tyrannical president of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth) remains the last hope for his fading lineage. With the 10th Hunger Games approaching, he becomes alarmed when he’s assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler) from District 12.
