THE SOUND OF SUMMER: Put your Hawaiian shorts and tropical shirt on, strap the dunga to the roof rack and never mind the sunscreen. We’re going back to the ‘60s with The Bootleg Beach Boys. Picture supplied
Good vibrations are in the air as tribute band The Bootleg Beach Boys plan a Gisborne concert guaranteed to be fun, fun, fun.
In the tradition of the 1960s act, The Bootleg Beach Boys will play a selection of classic hits when they perform at the War Memorial Theatre next
month. Wouldn’t it be nice to relive sun-soaked tunes such as California Girls, God Only Knows, and Help Me Ronda.
Fresh from a sold-out world tour that included Australia, France, London and Holland, The Bootleg Beach Boys’ fully costumed show takes the audience on a surfboard-racked jalopy ride from the beginning of The Beach Boys career and through California’s most famous band’s classic hits.
From surf-themed anthems like Surfin’ Safari to muscle car memorables Shut Down, the band has under its towel a wide repertoire of West Coast, harmony-laden songs, that evoke the spirit of the 1960s American dream.
The Bootleg Beach Boys, War Memorial Theatre, August 9. Tickets from $55 available at Stephen Jones Photography and eventfinda.
