Dub Cymatics loop their music at The Dome on Saturday

Fresh out of the Australasian melting pot and built upon utilising the potential of midi-synced live looping, is an exciting act who are on the first tour as a band.

Multi-instrumental loop musicians and singers Erinsphere and Sid Berry are both independent artists, who have teamed up to bring us the Dub Cymatics, at The Dome this Saturday.

Dub Cymatics is a coming together of two artists, who work well at not only fusing their talents, but also the acoustic and electronic sounds that they create.

They use loop pedals, which are simple in concept: you record what you are singing, beatboxing or playing on your instrument, and then when you kick the pedal, what you just recorded is instantly played back to you, providing a backing for you to record another line over.

Erin and Sid link their pedals (think Tash Sultana and Ed Sheeran joined together) and mix acoustic and electronic instruments (guitar, clarinet, keyboard, trumpet and violin) with drum samples and beatboxing to create fresh and upbeat live dance music.

Conscious lyrics and standout vocals characterise a duo that have as much passion for songcraft as they do for performance and play.

Inspired to create conscious atmospheres that are enjoyable and uplifting, in both lyrical and musical content, the contrast between Sid’s reggae style and Erin’s signature synth-like harmonies and leads build huge dynamic.

Freshly formed in 2017, they are already lining up shows in Australia, with support sets for both Juzzie Smith and the Kava Kings before the year is through.

New Zealand-born Erin has been touring the Australasian coastlines for the best part of four years honing her craft and live show.

Sid Berry hails from Newcastle in New South Wales and is on a mission to make music that feels good.

Springing from a love of reggae, dub and roots music, through hip-hop, dance and into drum and bass, the sound of the Dub Cymatics is fresh and evolving, inspired by influences such as Shapeshifter, Salmonella Dub, Blue King Brown and The Upbeats.

Erin will perform her own solo set as Erinsphere before joining up with Sid to become the Dub Cymatics.
