Performers from the Gisborne Country Music Club had success at The 2023 Pounamu Country Music Awards in Levin recently.

They were cheered on by a large group of supporters who travelled from Gisborne for the awards.

Whata Brown won veteran male solo, gospel, country rock, Western and took the veteran overall award. This means he will compete in the Entertainer of the Year in Rotorua next year.

Charmaine Puriri, an out-of-town Gisborne member won veteran female gospel.

Rawinia Gordon was runner-up in the senior solo and country rock categories and Maureen Maynard was runner-up in the veteran female solo.

Sisters Faith and Maureen Maynard won the veteran duo/groups category.
