NEW ALBUM: Chad Chambers’ new album Nāti Shores is being released tomorrow.

NEW ALBUM: Chad Chambers’ new album Nāti Shores is being released tomorrow.

Reggae powerhouse Chad “The Boogieman” Chambers’ long-awaited debut album Nāti Shores carries the heart of soul music and leaves you wanting more.

Chambers (Ngāti Porou, Te Whānau a Te Aotāwirirangi me Ruataupare) is set to release Nāti Shores tomorrow.

The eight-track bilingual album produced in collaboration with Zane Graham, draws inspiration from an array of musical greats including Prince Tui Teka, Bob Marley, and Elvis Presley, and pays homage to Chambers’ people on the East Coast.

“Its been a long time in the making, ” says Chambers.

“This album gives people an insight into what is important to me, my whānau and my people.”

Chambers extends his heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in the creation of this album, recognising the collaborative efforts that brought the project to life.

Nāti Shores is dedicated to Chad’s whānau, serving as a reminder to keep dreaming and pursuing their aspirations.

“Kia marotiri ai te wawata — reach for your highest potential.”

Hailing from Tokomaru Bay, the artist, has featured on some of Aotearoa’s biggest-selling reggae tracks, including Souljah Feeling by Tomorrow People and the remake of the Herbs’ Sensitive to a Smile, as part of the Aotearoa Reggae All Stars.

Since winning the grand final of Māori Television’s Homai Te Pakipaki show in 2011, he has firmly established himself on the live music scene, headlining music events and festivals here and overseas, and is known for captivating audiences with his “rastaman” swag and iconic gumboots.

Last year, he added to his list of achievements with Ka Puta Mai — his first release as a solo reggae artist and You and I — a love song dedicated to his partner and inspired by the love ballads of Prince Tui Teka.

In May 2023, he released a duet with his cousin Te Ataakura Sharland-Pewhairangi Kei Pōhēhē as part of the Waiata Anthems kaupapa, encouraging people not to judge a book by its cover.

Nāti Shores is exclusive to Iwi radio from yesterday and available on all streaming platforms from tomorrow.
