A photo of Troy Kingi by Gisborne photographer John Flatt (Lightseeker Photography) has been selected as part of the Auckland Festival of Photography this year.
The image was submitted to the competition and will feature on Queen's Wharf this May.
Flatt said the picture captures the wairua (spirit) that TroyKingi possesses and perhaps the festival of photography felt that too.
“He is a very iconic and influential figure in the New Zealand music and film industry.”
Flatt said Kingi is more than just a one-tone man — he is a singer, writer, musician and actor.
The image was taken at the Waitangi Day Out concert in Gisborne last year and entered in the 2021 Music Photo Awards as part of the Auckland Festival of Photography.
