DANCE and sing away any possible misfortune this Friday the 13th with the second concert in the Live On The Lawn series.

Established country singer, radio host and MC Walter 'The Wiz' Walsh will host the bad luck-themed concert on the riverbank in front of the Lawson Field Theatre.

“We want people to come dressed in black or wearing something scary,” The Wiz said.

“I’ll throw a few scary songs in there, and there will be prizes for adults and a lolly scramble for the kids.”

People are invited to bring a picnic to enjoy while listening to the music.

The Wiz, who has shared the stage with the likes of Dennis Marsh, Bunny Walters, and reggae-fusion band Fiji, will play a range of covers and originals.

He tells people to expect everything, from country and blues, to reggae, rock’n roll and easy listening, including hits from Billy Ray Cyrus, Elvis Presley, and Herbs.

As a one-man show he will be supported by a backing track, but there will also be a number of line dancers to get the crowd moving.

The Wiz said there was a great turnout at last year’s concert, with hundreds in attendance.

“It is about getting people involved and having a good time while they have their picnic. I’ll do a bit of comedy too,” he said.

The free concert will run from 6-8pm this Friday.

MORE FM radio station will broadcast any weather-related cancellation from 3pm on the day.

Remaining concerts in the series will feature Common Time on January 20 and Gisborne Concert Band on January 27.
