A television show appealing for help with the aggravated robbery of a Whangarei bank has spurred a number of calls to police investigating the serious crime.
The two offenders are yet to be arrested and police turned to the show for help.
The heavily disguised duo - one carrying a firearm - robbed the ANZ bank on the corner of Bank St and Rust Ave in central Whangarei, on March 22 about 11.30am.
They demanded cash before fleeing and being chased by former policeman Gavin Benney before they got into a red Holden Commodore in Second Ave.
The case featured on the television show Police Ten 7 on Thursday night, and included some clearer video footage of the two men believed to be involved than had previously been released.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Rob Huys said the investigation team were following up the more than half a dozen calls received after the screening on Police Ten 7.
"The team are really appreciative to the public for getting in touch and providing further information."
Meanwhile, Northland police continue to investigate two further aggravated robberies that both happened on Anzac Day.
Police are still trying to track the offender of an aggravated robbery at the Normanby Street Mobil service station at about 8.45pm on Anzac Day. The sole attendant handed over cash and the offender, who was armed with a knife, then fled on foot toward Parore St.
In another serious crime, two people were bound and left in the office of Ruakaka Tavern after they were confronted by two people after closing time about 11pm on Wednesday. The two victims were forced to open the safe and the thieves took cash and drove off in the victims car that was later found at Marsden Cove.
