Proposals to build a supermarket on a Welcome Bay reserve will now be rolled into a much larger planning study underway for the suburb and Ohauiti.
This was decided at a Tauranga City Council committee meeting today on the recommendation from Chariman Terry Molloy.
Mr Molloy said the decision gave
the council breathing space and would allow the proposal to align with the planning study.
The council committee was looking at choosing between Waitaha Reserve or Owens Park for possible sites for a supermarket.
The planning study for Ohauiti and Welcome Bay is expected to be released to the public towards the end of the this year.
