Top eight volleyball teams set to do battle

After 121 action-packed games on day 1 of the North Island Junior Volleyball Champs, the teams have been sorted into their division for the rest of the week.

Today will see the first match up of top eight ranked teams, these are scheduled for 6pm and 8pm.

Games to watch in the boys will be Tauranga Boys' College vs Whakatane High School Boys on the Ryder Consulting court, and on Court 1 Mount Maunganui College Boys take on Rangitoto College, both at 6pm, then at 8pm on the Ryder Consulting court Trident High School Boys A take on Otumoetai College Boys A, and on Court 1 Western Heights High School Boys A play One Tree Hill College Boys.

In the girls' division 1 the top of the table clashes are all at 8pm, Mount Maunganui College Girls play Whakatane High School Girls on the Volleyball BOP Centre court, Mangere College Girls play Sir Edmund Hillary College Girls on the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic court, Tauranga Girls' College A play Trident High School Girls on Court 5 and Otumoetai College Girls A play Bethlehem College Girls A on Court 6.

Highlights from day 1, the quickest set of the day was 25-2, and the closest was an epic third set match where Otumoetai College Boys' B defeated Napier Boys' High School Blue, 25-21, 21-25, 18-16.
