Mount Maunganui were too strong through the order against a much younger and less experienced Whakatane team in yesterday's Boshier Engineering men's premier match.

Howe and Katipa played a great first set in the top doubles to take it with Brown and McCashin turning the tables in the second and third sets to take the match.

Comments from the Homewood Park vs Welcome Bay/Gate Pa match: Peter O'Dea was in sublime form dispatching Jacob Carey in a merciless display of coach versus student.

O'Dea was also involved in a miraculous comeback with Phil Salmon in the doubles when they were 5-1 down in the second set after losing the first, to take the match out in the third.
