With Auckland City flying the ASB Premiership flag on the world stage at the Fifa Club World Cup in Morocco, champions Waitakere have a second chance to overtake Auckland at the top of the table tomorrow when WaiBOP United cross the Bombay Hills and head west to Whenuapai.
WaiBOP sitfifth in a congested table and the trip north represents a stern test of their top four aspirations.
In WaiBOP news, Marcel Galera Corbera returns from a one-match suspension, Reid Drake keeps his place in the squad after a stunning goal on debut last week while Maksim Manko shares the golden boot lead with Waitakere's suspended striker Richie Cardozo.
In a change of usual match day for Waitakere, the match kicks off tomorrow at 4pm.
An unpredictable ASB Premiership season so far has seen perennial top four challengers Team Wellington slip to sixth but only four points off the league leaders. And a win away from being right back in the thick of contention. They entertain a Wanderers side who will relish the chance to play at Westpac Stadium. It is the first match outside Auckland for the Wanderers in their first season.
Three meets four in Napier as Hawke's Bay United host a Canterbury United one point and one place above them on the table. Canterbury have worked their way back into form thanks partly to the return from All Whites duty of playmaker Aaron Clapham. The top four clash kicks off at 5pm tomorrow.
