Te Puke High

Football

The girls 1st XI's winning streak continues, with a dominant display against Otumoetai 2nd XI. Four goals from Muna Limbu, two for Cathy-Lee Campbell and one for Jessie McIndoe made the score 7-0. The Junior A's took on Katikati Knights at Litt Park. Te Puke
took the lead early dominating play and showing some great ball retention and skills quickly pushing the score out to 8-0 by halftime. Katikati never gave up the fight but with our boys back to full strength we were able to score another couple of goals by full time. Final score: TPHS Junior A 10 Katikati 0. Well done to Clyde Morris for scoring a hat trick this week. The boys 1st XI travelled to Katikati with only one reserve, losing 3-1 in a close battle. The Junior B boys lost against Papamoa Strikers 4-6, with Kevin Priebe and Sukhdeep Singh scoring two goals each.

Rugby

The under-15s faced a well drilled TBC under-14 elite side at Litt Park losing 52-5. The boys were caught napping early in the game allowing TBC to capitalise on some early mistakes but once they woke up managed to put together some good phase ball and score a try. The 2nd XV played Taupo-Nui-A-Tia at Litt Park with an impressive win, 39-10. Some great offence early on meant TPHS were dominating possession and territory enabling them to score two tries in quick succession which set the platform for the rest of the game. The 1st XV played Tauranga Boys 3rd XV at home, it was a close game but Te Puke went down 14-10.

Hockey

After a slow start, the 1st XI girls worked hard to beat Otumoetai 3rd XI 4-1. Goal scorers were Thea Fauvel, Emma Deegan, Shontell Thomas and Niamh Mark. On Monday TPHS boys hockey team played the Papamoa/Mount combined team. Te Puke dominated from the start with good structure and scored two goals in the first half, one of those being a well worked penalty corner between Corban Hodder and Damian Clark. In the second half the game opened up allowing Te Puke more space score goals. Final score: 6-1 to Te Puke. Our 2nd XI girls lost 0-4 to Katikati Girls 1st XI.

Netball

Junior White girls lost to Bethlehem College 9 Red, 27-18. Junior Blue lost to TGC Energies, 22-12. Junior B lost to TGC 9A, 47-9. Junior A won against TGC 10A, 54-10. Senior White won against Otumoetai College Black, 31-16. Senior B lost to TGC league 2, 63-21. Senior A won against Katikati Senior A, 47-27.

Basketball

The Junior Boys played TBC Junior C last Wednesday. Plenty of hussle early on helped our boys take the lead and they won 65-12. Standout players were Te Ua Peters, Kelvin Fraser, Michael Mataroa, Hugh Hawkey and the Goodman brothers. The senior boys lost to the competition favourites TBC Senior A, who were a very well drilled side demonstrating some superb skills. Full credit to our boys for never giving up.
