Old Blues are again the only Tauranga team at home this weekend in
the first round of the Cup, after beating Mt Albert Grammar in qualifying last month.
They'll host five-time winners Eastern Suburbs at Waipuna Park on Sunday, with Eastern Suburbs on track to earn promotion to the Northern Region premier league and Old Blues unbeaten in the WaiBop Federation League.
But 21-year-old Cooper, who scored both goals in the 2-1 win over Kevin Fallon's Mt Albert side, reckons enthusiasm will go a long way.
"We're all pretty excited - we got a bit of confidence from the Mt Albert game because that was probably the best game we've played all season and we were quite chuffed," Cooper said.
"Eastern Suburbs will definitely be the toughest team we've played this year but we'll see how we go - if we play together and put in a big effort, we should get there."
Last month's qualifying win was the first time Old Blues had won a Chatham Cup match since the club was formed seven years ago, while Sunday's fixture will be only the second time they've even hosted a Chatham Cup match.
Cooper is the son of club founder John Cooper, and has already scored seven goals since returning this season from a stint with Matamata Swifts.
The other three Tauranga clubs will all make the trip over the Bombays Hills - Otumoetai take on NRL 2 side Hibiscus Coast, Tauranga Boys' College face NRL 1 side Lynn Avon, while Tauranga City also travel to Auckland to play NRL 1 side Takapuna.
The only remaining Auckland Sunday League team, Bohemian Celtic, have landed a home tie against Northern League second division side Fencibles United.
The Chatham Cup plays along regional lines in early rounds, although this season the draw becomes national one round earlier than previous seasons with the final 16 teams entering an open fourth round draw.
Although they are involved in the Chatham Cup, the top three WaiBop Federation sides are assured of retaining their places.
AFC Fury have a home game against Whakatane Town who will be desperate for a win after four losses from five games has them in the relegation zone, and Melville United host Ngaruawahia.
In division two Cambridge host Te Awamutu, Tauranga City play Rotorua United at Links Ave and Katikati are at home to Matamata.
