It was close but no reward for a quartet of Mount Maunganui surfers at the Rip Curl  Pro event at Raglan's Manu Bay over the weekend.
Laura Rishworth was beaten into third in the women's final, won by Raglan's Jessica Santorik, who continued her strong recent form to beat Aucklander Rosa Thompson.

O'Connor was tipped out in the open men's semifinals, two spots better than Mount's Nick White who was eliminated, along with Alex Dive, in the round of 16.
Morehu Roberts broke through the national ranks for the biggest win of his surfing career, fighting off fellow Gisborne surfer Jay Quinn in the 25-minute head-to-head final,
scoring 15.50 to Quinn's 14.80.
