The Papamoa Rotary Club's PowerCo Charity Golf Tournament held on Anzac Day afternoon was a huge success, with a full field of golfers enjoying the sunshine and the fine facilities of the Mount Golf Club.

The charities to benefit from the day included both the local St John Ambulance organisation and the local Canteen organisation which supports young people with cancer. More than $4000 was given to each of the organisations, and this was made possible by the great support from sponsors, Mount Golf Club, the Papamoa Rotary Club and the golfers involved.

Neil Holdum of PowerCo, representing the principal sponsor of the event, said that it was a pleasure to be involved with Rotary and local charities, of which Canteen was special to them.

Overall winner on the day was Hamilton Rotarian, Colin Sheppard, who scored 44 stableford points off a 17 handicap, and headed off local businessman Max Martin on 42 points. Colin is known as "the Great White Shark", named after the legendary Greg Norman.

Best woman was local Rotarian Joy Baker, and best Gross of the day was Blair Murdock with a 67. Blair kindly donated his prize back to be auctioned, which raised an extra $250 from Sue Martin.
