Mount Maunganui golf professional Josh Geary will look to continue his perfect record at the Carrus Open when Bay of Plenty's biggest tournament tees off on September 26.

Geary has won both his previous starts, at the inaugural Carrus Open in 2006 and again in 2008. After a busy season in Australasia and the United States, he's keen to bring his best game back to a familiar local course.

He'll face a strong field that includes a total of eight former Charles Tour winners in Geary, Ben Campbell, Grant Moorhead, Troy Ropiha, Mark Purser, Doug Holloway, Nick Gillespie and Joshua Carmichael in the $40,000, 72 hole stroke play event.

Also entered are former Japan Tour pro Richard Lee, who shot a 59 at Tauranga Golf Club in 2010, to be the only Kiwi to have shot golf's magical number, and in-form amateur Luke Toomey.

We caught up with Geary, Tauranga Golf Club head professional Jay Carter and defending champion Mark Brown to chat over the prospects for the tournament.
