Easter weekend serves up a full menu of motorsport entertainment.
The action begins tomorrow at the new Hampton Downs race circuit where New Zealand's top drivers are contesting the final round of the D1NZ New Zealand Drift Championship.
Going into the series finale, Nissan Silvia S14 driver Gaz Whiter holds a 50-pointlead on Curt Whittaker (Nissan Skyline R34) with Tauranga driver Cole Armstrong (Nissan Skyline R34) holding fourth place.
The holiday weekend speedway action is headlined by the annual Hickey Contractors Easter Extravaganza at Rotorua's Paradise Valley Raceway.
The traditional Saturday-Sunday double header at Rotorua has Super Stocks, Stock Cars and Modifieds racing on both nights supported by Minisprints and Production Saloons on Saturday with Saloon cars and Youth Ministocks on Sunday.
The meeting has strong entries with the Modifieds headed by recently crowned NZ champion John Jackson (Taranaki).
Baypark drivers are well-represented in both the stock car and saloon car entry lists with Tauranga's New Zealand saloon car champion Brent McClymont heading the saloon car field. Racing starts 6pm both days.
For two-wheel enthusiasts Tokoroa is the destination for the New Zealand Junior Motocross Nationals.
The South Waikato Motorcycle Club hosts the event at its Amisfield track with national titles up for grabs in seven age groups as the future stars of the sport battle for number one status.
Championship classes are 85cc in 8-10 years, 11-12 years and 13-16 years age groups, 150cc four-stoke (9-16 years), 125cc 2-stroke (12-14 years and 14-16 years) and a 250cc 4-stroke class for 14-16 year-old riders.
Another traditional Easter weekend fixture is the end of the season race meeting at Taupo Motorsport Park.
Motorsport BOP also has an Easter Sunday fixture with a gravel hillclimb at Old Kaimai Rd near the Kaimai summit of State Highway 29. The 2.4km course is mainly narrow gravel with tight corners. Practice runs are scheduled to begin at 10am.
