Boys Football: The Wilson Plumbing Boys' 1st XI start their pre-season programme with games against Mount Maunganui College, Massey High, Forest View, Heretaunga, Liston and Rotorua Boys' High. Following this weekend's matches at the Western Heights tournament in Rotorua, local supporters will be treated to seeing the team in action for the return match against Mount Maunganui - scheduled for Te Puke's Jubilee Park on Wednesday, with a 4pm kick-off.
Rugby: The Under 14 boys' teamgo to Mount Maunganui College this Saturday for a 10am kick-off. Coach Paul Conrad reports that his players are looking forward to a full match before the weekly competition starts next term.
Girls Football: The Wilson Plumbing Girls' 1st XI are preparing for their return to first division by hosting the Katikati College 1st XI for a preseason match at Jubilee Park this Thursday afternoon. Coach Steve Subritzsky has assembled a squad of quick young players for the lead-in to the Western Heights tournament, where the team are scheduled to play Massey High, Trident and Tauranga Girls College.
Tauranga Boys'
TBC won the overall BOPSS Sailing championships, beating Otumoetai, Taupo, and Bethlehem.
Laim Bass won gold in the boys' 13 years 400m and bronze in the 100m at the Waikato/BOP Children Club Athletics.
The Contact National School Champs were in Queenstown last weekend with more than 600 competitors. In the under 19s, Patrick Burrows finished 5th and Hayden Moorhouse 10th.
The North Island Secondary Schools Athletics Championship were held at Porritt Stadium in Hamilton. Alex Colvin won the intermediate boys long jump and triple jump and was undefeated all season. Julian Oakley won the senior boys 1500m , narrowly missing the record. The sprinters, Michael Goldie and Olly Ranby, claimed bronze in the 200m senior and intermediate boys.
The rowing squad went to Lake Karapiro and made seven A finals and three B finals, the most successful TBC outing in the Maadi Cup for years.
The novice four, Bradley Craven (cox) Jack Gilpin, Jade Washer, Mark Parry and Jordan Parry took bronze.
In the U16 quad, Cody Pettit, Sheldon Noyce, Jackson Pettit, Daniel Bridgwater and coxed by Zak Davie took the title.
TBC 1st XI went to Gower Park in Hamilton to play Melville in the first game of 2011. Melville won 3-1. Man of the match went to Josh Dwight.
Tauranga Girls'
A huge congratulations to the Senior A Volleyball team who defended their national title and come home with the cup for the second year in a row.
This is a massive achievement and has involved a great amount of work from Andrea Tauai, Toni Bullock, Kerry Hampton, Sage Hemara, Nicky McCool, Lauren Meyer, Stephanie Pierce, Simone Te Kani, Dylan Vaetoe and Zoe Wieringa. They were top in their pool, then also topped their crossover pool beating every team in three sets. We were two sets down in the final against Otumoetai College, when our team pulled together and won the third set. Which led to winning the fourth and fifth set.
Well done to Toni Bullock and Stephanie Pierce who were named in the tournament team. Big congratulations to Andrea Tauai who not only was in the tournament team but named Most Valuable Player of the tournament. These awesome results are all thanks to our amazing coaches Tamara Patete and Allen Satiu.
Our rowers did a great job at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Rowing Nationals at Karapiro. The U16 Eight gained a bronze medal, the team consisted of Ellen Crane, Lydia Milne, Anna Cullum, Alathea Lockett, Belinda Ketel, Laura Bonney, Fiona Bennet, Courtenay Megson and Laura Perry. This is a admirable achievement, coaches Craig Bocock and Jeff Johnson have done a good job. Congratulations to Rebecca Wilson who is a trialist for the North Island U18 Team.
At the North Island Athletics, Amy Robinson was first in the relay and 80m hurdles, and second in long jump, 100m and 200m. Abby Goldie was first in the relay, 100m and 200m. In the junior girls Jessica Bitcheno won the 800m.
Our Canoe Polo team placed fifth at the National Secondary Schools Canoe Polo Nationals. This is a great effort.
Mount Maunganui

The buzz around Mount Maunganui College was the volleyball results from last week's nationals in Palmerston North. Our boys senior A team s finished in 6th place in Division 1.
6 students made the NZ Volleyball squads, U19's Caleb Mattison-Smith and Mitchell Kerr-Bell, U17 Liam Whareatiu and Paora Tipene, U17 girls Claudia Colenso-Neenee and Mihi Ngatai. Double success for Caleb, Mitchell, Liam, Paoroa and Claudia who have also been successful in making the NZ Beach Volleyball Squads as well as Hannah Scown who won the U15 National Beach Volleyball title earlier this year with Claudia.
The MMC boy's golf pennant team of John Campbell, Jordan Golding, JD Pollard and Tawera Williams won the BOP Golf pennant final in Rotorua.
Aquinas College

Three Aquinas speedsters have returned from the North Island Secondary School Athletics event with pleasing results.
Lili Crombie knocked seven seconds off her personal best for the junior girls' 3000m event, in which she finished sixth. Anneke Grogan also had a good run in the 1500m. She too finished in sixth place, and knocked 6sec off her personal best.
Alice McFall put in a brave effort in the 2km steeplechase for eighth place.
Otumoetai College

Mieka Watson won the Under 18 girls at the national rock climbing series in Wanaka. Mieka is hoping to do well at the Worlds trial next month.
Best wishes to our golf team at the World Schools Golf challenge in South Africa in the holidays. Congratulations to Bradley Shaw, Chris Charlton, Cody Joss, Hayden Henderson, Regan Anderson, Finnal Balmer-Allen.
Our Boys Golf Penants Team of Andrew Jackson, Jack Tisch, Jamie & Hayden Henderson was second on the countback at the BOP finals.
Mary Mitchell competed at the national Horse of the Year and gained two placings. On the horse Pay Day NZPH she was 2nd in a 1.20m class and fifth on Jumping Jack Splash.
At the North Islands athletic meet Vanessa Hill was 3rd in triple jump and 4th in the 100m; Emma Jackson 3rd in the 400m. Outstanding again was Joseph Reynolds who came second in high jump. He was also 3rd in the Senior Boys 110m hurdles.

We sent 6 teams to the Volleyball Nationals last week. Our best result was the Girls A team who won the silver medal in Division 1. The Senior Boys A won gold in Division 2. NZ Under 17 Squad: Devin Church, Willis GlenVile, Liam Matheson, Te Pae Thompson-Aporo, Abbie Meredith, Julia Hartley, Katie Wood.
Our Swimming champions are: Senior Boys 1, Conor Topp 2, Rikki Scott 3. Senior Girls Taylor Armstrong 1, Holly Boyle 2, Vanessa Hill 3.
Intermediate Boys: Hamish Treanor 1, Sam Roy 2, Aiden Ross 3. Intermediate Girls: Brittany Goodrick 1, Stephanie Capp 2, Millie Atkinson 3. Junior Boys: Jack Neal 1, Isiash Duncanson 2, Jayden Bradley, John Ward equal 3. Junior Girls: Kelcy Ballentyne 1, Maddie Ragg 2, Jessica Gadsbey 3.
Taylor Armstrong broke 7 school records. . Junior Boy Jack Neale broke the 25m and 50m Freestyle.
At the NZ Extreme Whitewater Freestyle Nationals Andre Sperling won a Silver medal in the Junior Mens U18.
