Naenae greens - scoring convincing victories along the way - and came away smiling with the national club championship title.
Last month Tauranga South's men's team won the national division two inter-club championship, also in Lower Hutt.
"We were surprised at the ease of the win but we played really well," said Campbell, who moved to Tauranga from Taupo two years ago. "The greens were fantastic and we loved it.
"Robyn played superb lead bowls and that's what pairs is all about, and when we were in a spot of trouble I managed to get us out of it. It's been a real treat to see how Robyn has come on this season."
Campbell won her fourth New Zealand title, to add to the three national open pairs she won with world champion Sharon Sims, of Palmerston North. One of those triumphs was at the Naenae club, and Campbell has also been runner-up three times, twice in the singles and once in the fours.
"It's been a happy hunting ground," said Campbell.
The Tauranga South pair set the tone for their latest challenge at Naenae by comfortably beating Nelson's Misty Arnold and Dale Bourke 24-11 in the first round.
The Nelson pair won their next four games, but by the fifth round Campbell and Davis couldn't be beaten, even on points differential.
"We were still determined to win that one because we didn't want to come through on countback," said Campbell.
They smacked the Auckland pair of Maria Broadbent and Jo Babich (Carlton Cornwall) - both national champions - 21-8 after leading 16-1. Campbell and Davis also beat Kay Carr/Lisa White (Victoria, Wellington) 28-6, Glenys Whiteman/ Bobbie Beattie (Gisborne) 19-12, and Mata Frankum/Carol Clark (Waimate) 18-10.
The Mount Maunganui combination of Steve Beel, Paul Anderson, Dean Worrall and Ray Wilson are contesting the men's four final at the Naenae club on Friday and Saturday, and their toughest competition should come from the Ben King-skipped Wilton side, and the Pascoes, Lance, Shane and Merv, from the West Coast.
