Whakarewarewa take on Rotoiti tomorrow in the Rotorua derby and will book a Baywide semifinal spot with a win.
With defending champions Tauranga Sports, Mount Maunganui and Te Puke Sports assured of top-four finishes and a spot in the playoffs, the race in the last two weeks for the top three
will be to book home semifinals.
Tauranga Sports, chasing five successive Baywide Premier crowns, are out to rediscover winning form after two defeats in the last two weekends against Mt Maunganui and Te Puna. A third successive defeat is hard to envisage against mid-table Opotiki at Tauranga Domain.
Mount Maunganui need to down wooden-spoon favourites Whakatane Marist away to stay in contention for a home semi after last weekend's loss to Te Puke Sports. Te Puke Sports take on Te Puna tomorrow at Murray Salt Stadium.
While Rangataua have a theoretical chance of getting past Whaka for the fourth semifinal spot, they'll need to bank a bonus point in defeating Waikite at Te Ariki Park tomorrow, while hoping Whaka lose their last two games.
The real race in the division-one championship is between Marist St Michaels in third and Katikati and Ngongotaha in fourth place. St Michaels face a stiff challenge against Rangiuru, Katikati should beat bottom-placed Ruatoki, and Ngongotaha will be favoured to take out the Rotorua derby with Kahukura.
