The property markets in Tauranga, Mount Maunganui and Papamoa dipped in April.

The markets suffered 35 per cent drops in the numbers of properties sold on a month-by-month comparison.

While property prices also dipped, the big decline was in sales numbers. In Tauranga there were 97 sales in April, following a whopping 149 sales in March. In Mount Maunganui/Papamoa there were 73 sales, down from 112 the previous month.

The Western Bay fared the best of the three regions during the lean month, tallying up 64 sales - down only four sales from the 68 in March.
