Shocking driving behaviour
I am hoping a parent may read this letter and recognise their child's behaviour while driving a white, older model Toyota on Thursday, November 16, from Welcome Bay at 8.10am. I followed this car from Victory St all the way to the bridge into Turret Rd.Cars were nose to tail. In Victory St, the young driver, who had other young people in her car, proceeded to make up her face using the rear vision mirror. She applied face care all the way into, and along, Welcome Bay Rd. We came down the hill towards Turret Rd where the road merges and she applied mascara to her eyelashes. The car kept veering to the left. Thought I had seen it all, but apparently not! Coincidence?
Is it just coincidence that the Prime Minister narrated a fairy story of a puppet pantomime?
I have increasing concern that when a Northern Hemisphere side loses in a close game to the All Blacks, columnists tend to overplay the bad luck factor to their loss and what a courageous and spirited bunch they are. These emotions rely upon the old-fashioned principles that the Irish and Scots especially are a persecuted people who never get an even break. What these historical emotions have to do with modern rugby is a mystery, and they are demeaning to our opponents. Northern Hemisphere rugby has strengthened to the stage where they can be considered our major opposition. This is an excellent state of affairs and New Zealand has to respond accordingly, and is doing so. The simple reason that the Scots did not win the last test was because they made too many unforced errors. The arithmetic of the game defeated them, not history.
