Simon Gault is set to cook up a storm for Waipuna Hospice next week.

The celebrity chef is making his way to Tauranga to show off his culinary skills during a cooking demonstration in a fully equipped mobile kitchen.

Only 100 tickets were available for the event, Waipuna Hospice fundraising manager Trish Rea said.

All proceeds would go to Waipuna Hospice which provided specialist care for patients living with a life-limiting illness, and support services for patients and their families.

"I have been keen to get someone with Simon's calibre, but of course they are in hot demand and lead very busy lives," Mrs Rea said.

Farmer Auto Village helped organise the evening.

She did not know what Mr Gault would whip up for his guests during the demonstration but he was a great presenter to watch, she said.

"He's charming and funny but a natural and polished presenter. He's quick to laugh with his cheeky little grin which will make it fun. Obviously, he's wildly passionate about food. It will be a very special night."

The organisation has to raise $2.5 million a year to keep its doors open to help the local community.
