Speed said this year there were 80,000 books and about 5000 other items including CDs, DVDs and records, and also a small garage sale of items of some value.
Among the donations was a large collection of books from a deceased estate, which includes several prized art books being sold at a significantly discounted price, he said.
"There is sure to be something for everyone, with plenty of great bargains too," he said.
Speed said it was estimated that the local community had benefited to the tune of more than $1m since the first annual fundraiser began.
One of the highlights of the sale was having well-known author Tommy Kapai Wilson reading children books to young shoppers on Friday night from about 7pm, he said.
