Woman who died in mobility scooter crash named as 90-year-old Molly Heapy

The elderly woman who died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the road on a mobility scooter in Tauranga has been named by police.

She was 90-year-old Molly Heapy of Tauranga.

The collision happened on Ninth Ave in the CBD shortly before 12.30pm on Thursday. Heapy died at the scene.

Police said the Serious Crash Unit investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash was ongoing.

"Police offer their sympathies to the friends and family of Molly at this sad time."
