A woman was taken to hospital in a serious condition after tumbling two metres from a walking track in the Karangahake Gorge, landing on her head.
The Auckland Rescue Helicopter crew was sent to the gorge, between the Coromandel and Kaimai ranges, at 11.30am on Sunday to help the woman
in her 60s.
The woman suffered multiple injuries and was flown to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition.
On Saturday, the Whitianga crew was also called to Matarangi to help another woman in her 60s.
