UPDATED 3.21pm: A woman has been taken to Tauranga Hospital in a serious condition after she was hit by a car on State Highway 29 this afternoon.
The woman was struck by Poike Rd roundabout about 2pm.
Emergency services closed a lane but the highway both lanes have since been
re-opened.
Western Bay of Plenty head of road policing Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said the woman was lying on the road when they arrived.
The motorist who allegedly struck stopped and police inquiries were continuing, he said.
EARLIER: A lane has been closed on State Highway 29 at Tauriko after a crash this afternoon.
