Tauranga Arts Festival producer Kimberley Cleland's style is a blend of vintage and modern

How do you describe your style?
Flexible and changing, comfortable and classic, blend of vintage and modern, with a few special pieces for special occasions. My life and work is pretty diverse so my wardrobe has
to fit these changing roles.

What do clothes mean to you?
An expression of myself and my values. Where possible and practical, I try to purchase items that are ethically made, low impact and pay a fair wage to those humans making the items. I also think it's really important to support local retailers.

What's your favourite piece in your wardrobe and why?
Probably a vintage kimono from Yugen NZ - it instantly dresses up anything and goes with everything. It has a design that looks like Kintsugi which is the Japanese art of fixing broken pottery with a special lacquer dusted with powdered gold, making something broken beautiful again. I really love that concept.

What do you wear to work?
Comfortable pants, shirt or top, or simple dresses, flats and a cardigan or blazer. Smart casual. I also love earrings so usually add some large earrings to accessorise.

What's your weekend uniform?
Jeans or pants and a top, comfy cardie or heels and dresses to head out in.

What's your oldest piece of clothing?
A linen dress Mum had made in the 80s, it's still in such good condition and has beautiful wooden buttons. I love that I have received so many hand-me-downs from her where style has come back or is timeless.

What's the latest piece you've bought?
A white vintage cardigan with a heavy knitting weave from the pre-loved store at the Historic Village.

What's the most you've spent on an item of clothing?
A Karen Walker dress that was purchased for a birthday between lots of friends, so I didn't buy it but was gifted it.

How has your style changed over time?
Gone from floral and feminine to more classic. I also wear clothes I can run around in after my 2-year-old daughter.
