It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas in Tauranga, with many festivities planned around the city.

Tauranga City Council city events manager Gareth Wallis said encouraged families to visit the many festive events scheduled during the Christmas holidays.

Wallis said the council had partnered with The Incubator to bring the Twelve Trees of Christmas to the city centre.

The project involved 12 wooden trees decorated by more than 20 community groups and schools which were on display at the waterfront and Red Square until mid-January 2018.

Downtown Tauranga also had a Santa Wonderland in Goddard's Shopping Centre open 10am-4pm daily between Monday to Saturday until December 23.

On offer is Santa's float from the Trustpower Christmas Parade, life-sized reindeer, Christmas displays, digital displays and videos games, a Christmas craft making table, along with special appearances from Santa Claus and snow will be all around.

"Santa will also be there on Saturday's 11.30am to 2pm and daily in the week leading up to Christmas," Wallis said.

Merry Christmas to everyone from the Bay of Plenty Times editorial team.
