What a fantastic response so far for the Bay of Plenty Times Christmas Appeal.

It's wonderful to see the community digging deep so that less fortunate Bay families can look forward to a merry Christmas.

Today you can read about the Port of Tauranga's donation of $6000 to
the foodbank.

The decision to donate the money to the community rather than spend it on customer gifts is an admirable one.

We also talk about the port's donation of $4000 to Child Cancer.

Speaking of spreading the Christmas cheer, we talk to a Bay woman who decided the salvors out on the Rena deserved some Christmas spirit and organised for a Christmas tree to be sent to the Smit Borneo crane barge, where the salvors will be staying.

I think no matter where you are in the world, it's always nice to remember it's Christmas time and to make the most of it.
