Police attended the scene of a crash on Thornton Rd near Whakatāne on October 5.

Police have named the man who died after a crash near Whakatāne earlier this month.

He was Daniel Paul Henriksen, 40, of Whakatāne.

Henriksen died after the crash on Thornton Rd, between Matatā and Whakatāne, on October 5.

Three people in a serious condition and one in a minor condition were taken to Tauranga Hospital.

Police said inquiries into the crash were ongoing.
