Traffic builds along SH2 near Whakamārama after a truck breakdown partially blocks the northbound lane, causing delays for drivers. Photo / Facebook

Motorists are warned of delays following a truck breakdown at Whakamārama.

NZ Transport Agency said the northbound lane of State Highway 2 was partially blocked

The breakdown was reported about 11.30am.

Emergency services and roading crews are on site, but there is no indication yet of how long the disruption will last, the agency said.

There are no alternative routes available at this stage.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution and allow extra time for their journeys, especially during the afternoon peak period.
