Tauranga has really gone to the dogs, throwing a welcoming party for Hairy Maclary and his friends on Saturday, August 1.
The family and pet-friendly event will celebrate the arrival of bronze doggy sculptures to the waterfront.
There will be free storytelling, face-painting, roving performers from 10am till 2pm. TheSPCA will also be there with puppies. Ziwipeak will have doggy goodie bags and take your photo with your favourite statue, while Tauranga Vets will have a dog rest area.
Come down and see the Dogmatic Team with their pack of trick dogs. The event is from 10am to 2pm. Dogs are welcome.
The sculptures, created by Brigitte Wuest, is of Dame Lynley Dodd's beloved children's book characters -- Hairy Maclary, Scarface Claw, Slinky Malinki, Hercules Morse, Muffin McLay, Bottomley Potts, Schnitzel von Krumm, Bitzer Maloney and Zachary Quack -- and will be located on the waterfront next to the playground.
