"We were dealing with a particular fire said unit which we used last year. Unfortunately, their policies and procedures have changed and now it's not just a voluntary basis in which they can help us. We will have to pay for it now."
Ms Rudden said they were still yet to receive a quote for how much this would cost when they made the decision on Wednesday to postpone the event.
"We needed to give people enough notice as possible."
Being unable to secure a first aid unit for the event meant organisers would not be insured for public liability.
"We are trying to be more positive about it," Ms Rudden said.
"It's a small blip. Everything is in place for the actual run. At least now we can raise more awareness and get more people and first-aiders there."
Ms Rudden said they were now working to ensure the event would not clash with other sporting events, to allow as many teams already registered to still be able to take part.
The Warrior Run is the second of its kind and aimed at raising about $40,000 for an electronic outdoor wheelchair for Elliot, who snapped his C4 vertebrae while riding last year and has been left with no movement from his shoulders down.
Last year, the event raised money for a The Gym staff member who' husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Ms Rudden said there were many people who wanted to help Elliot, who had been active in diving, surfing, snowboarding and kayak-fishing up until his July accident.
"It's all about getting as much money as we can for the cause," she said.
The 4km course will involve walls, ropes, sandbags, tyres, hills, and mud.
The event would involve teams of four at $35 per person. If people would like to take part but do not have a team, team members could be found for them. Spot prizes will be up for grabs.
More information will be available once a date is secured for the event.
