Herald NOW Weather: November 17, 2025.

More wet weather is forecast this week, with a fresh heavy rain warning issued for Bay of Plenty.

MetService said an easterly front over the Tasman Sea was expected to bring heavy rain to the country during Tuesday and Wednesday.

An orange warning was in place for Bay of Plenty between 8pm on Tuesday and 5pm on Wednesday, with 150-200mm of rain expected.

Heavy rain warnings were also in place for the Coromandel Peninsula and Tongariro National Park, with a heavy watch in place for the broader Waikato area from 3pm on Tuesday.

MetService said streams and rivers may rise rapidly and surface flooding, slips and difficult driving conditions were possible.
