Surf Shack, located in Waihi Beach, has been presented the national Puhoi Valley People's Choice award at the 2017 Meadow Fresh New Zealand Cafe of the Year event.

The awards highlight the diverse, the delicious and the most delightful of New Zealand's cafe culture.

The People's Choice award recognises the most popular cafe in a region, determined by the highest number of customer votes, with locals and out of town fans having their say on their favourite cafes.

Surf Shack was announced the Upper North Island region winner of the Puhoi Valley People's Choice award in December and can now enjoy the glory of being awarded the national People's Choice crown, having received the highest number of votes in the country.

The Surf Shack is settled next to the Waihi Airfield and has travellers from all over NZ visiting by car and by plane. Renowned for its own style of Kiwi extreme sport on the menu 'The Beast', a belly busting breakfast served on a 36cm latter, the cafe also offers 'famous' pancakes, spectacular stacked salads and in the owner's words "the best darn home ground burgers in NZ".

One year strong, the Surf Shack provides a great level of service, great food and an inviting atmosphere.
