Vehicle crashes into Gate Pā power box

A power outage has been reported in the Gate Pā area after a crash in Tauranga this afternoon.

Emergency services are responding after a vehicle reportedly struck a power box at the intersection of Cameron Rd and Kauri St.

A reporter at the scene said one police car, one ambulance and one fire engine are in attendance.

Powerco said one property has been affected by the outage and a site investigation is underway.

Police said a car has crashed into a parked vehicle, leaving one person with a cut.

“No one is trapped, but a localised power outage.”

Hato Hone St John was notified of the crash at 2.49pm.

A spokesperson said they responded with one ambulance.

“One patient was assessed at the scene and was taken to Tauranga Hospital in a moderate condition.”
