The Bay of Plenty Times welcomes letters and comments from readers. Below you can read the letters we have published in your newspaper today.
TODAY'S LETTERS:

Vandalism must stop

I am disgusted by the way they are ripping the mangroves out of the estuary, they are destroying habitats, driving away wildlife and making a
huge mess in the process.
The stench itself is gut wrenching, nauseating and makes one want to puke as they drive along Welcome Bay Rd.
Now they are attacking the Tai Park Estuary, which I disagree with totally as there are heron and pukekoe nesting in the mangroves, along with fish that spawn in the tidle streams.
I don't want any more ripped out, it is a disgrace and should be stopped.
Not only is it destroying habitat but it will cause higher king tides and erosion along the banks due to waves pounding the shores. Mangroves are there for a reason leave them alone, leave all the wildlife alone.
HELEN KNIGHT, Welcome Bay
Blasting Mauao
Re: Base track reopening Date revealed.
One paragraph of the report states: "Mauao is an archaeological site, so blasting or breaking of rocks on Mauao is not permitted by tangata whenua."
Has it only recently been designated an archaeological site by tangata whenua? I ask this as I clearly recall two or three years ago the base track being closed for a number of days while contractors used explosives to remove dangerous overhanging boulders high on Mauao. Is somebody able to enlighten your readers?
ROGER BAILEY, Papamoa
Bullying concerns
Re Bullies must not be tolerated.
We agree! Cyberbullying and the fact these activities are now digital and not confined to the schools is a massive concern, so much so we are funding our own campaign to build awareness.
When my Dad died last year, I learnt the hard way about the lack of resolutions to issues online and designed a parenting course which we hope youth will learn from.
JESS MAHER, Massey, Auckland

Scared off
Regarding the road toll, I am sure more people would use the toll road if Transit or the council would take the sign down telling motorists to go down the road to Cambridge road and not have to pay a $1.
PAUL CRAIG, Mount Maunganui

* Re the Waterfront vision i believe the problem is, is that a number of city councillors r visionless, live in the past & are detrimental to the cities future!!
* I think that there has to be some blame applied to the councillors who opposed the Mt Hot Pools upgrade as the issues now being faced would have been addressed.
* re waterfront ... Council spent $150k of our money already ... How much of our money has Priority One spent with their failed attempt? John
