Two vehicles involved in Bay of Plenty crash

Police are at the scene of a two-vehicle crash near Kawerau.

A police media spokeswoman said they received a call at 9.32am reporting two vehicles were involved in a collision on Kawerau Rd towards Whakatane.

People had suffered injuries, she said.

"We are unsure yet the nature of the injuries, but initial suggestions are it's possibly serious."

The crash happened near Lambert Rd.
