Paramedics treated two people for smoke inhalation after a house fire in the rural eastern Bay of Plenty overnight.
Opotiki firefighters were called to the house in Dip Rd, southwest of the Opotiki township, just after midnight.
Fire and Emergency northern communications shift manager Megan Ruru said about half
the house was burning when the crew arrived.
The single storey house was about 50m by 10m.
Firefighters extinguished the flames and ambulance was called to treat two people who had suffered smoke inhalation.
A fire investigator had been called in, Ruru said.
