Two people have been attacked by a group of loose dogs in Pāpāmoa.

Police received reports about 3pm of loose dogs in the Pāpāmoa Beach area.

They said two people had been bitten and Animal Control had been called to manage the dogs.

Hato Hone St John said one patient had been taken to Tauranga Hospital in a moderate condition.

A second was assessed and treated at the scene on Tara Rd.
