The doors to the iconic national department store Farmers and homeware specialists Bed, Bath & Beyond have opened to the public at Tauranga Crossing.
Farmers and Bed, Bath and Beyond is now open opposite the shopping centre on Taurikura Dr, Tauriko.
Tauranga Crossing chief executive Steve Lewis said the two stores were a welcome addition to the growing line-up of retailers at the new development.
"Their commitment is an endorsement of the growing success of the development and the region itself."
Lewis said 2018 had been a successful year for openings at Tauranga Crossing.
"We have opened new tenants with more than 10,000sq m of space in the past 12 months," he said.
"Once Stage 2 of the centre is completed in April 2019 we will have 45,000sq m of lettable area open to the public, making Tauranga Crossing the largest retail destination in the Bay of Plenty."
The first phase of the new enclosed shopping centre will open on October 4 and feature up to 15 general merchandise and lifestyle retailers.
The grand opening of the shopping mall and fashion galleria will be in April 2019.
Stage Two will include further shopping and dining options across two levels in an enclosed mall along with a unique entertainment precinct, anchored by Event Cinemas.
The cinema complex will include six screens, more than 1000 seats and the only Vmax screen in the Bay of Plenty.
Up to 70 extra international and national fashion, apparel and general merchandise retailers will take the total number of stores and restaurants in the shopping complex to more than 100, with more than 1700 free carparks.
Tauranga Crossing will also be home to a two-level dining precinct featuring 15 casual dining options and an al-fresco dining terrace overlooking a sun-drenched north facing outdoor garden area.
