Two crashes in Mount Maunganui in half an hour

Police were called to two separate crashes in Mount Maunganui within half an hour this morning.

A police media spokeswoman said police were called to a "nose-to-tail" crash on Hewletts Rd near Waimarie St at 8.55am.

The spokeswoman said initial reports were the person was trapped, but that was no longer the case.

"There is no mention of the road being blocked," she said.

Earlier, a police media spokeswoman said a car and a cyclist collided at the intersection of Golf Rd and Lodge Ave at 8.40am.

"The cyclist is being treated for facial injuries," the spokeswoman said.
