Trustpower users to get cash boost

Trustpower electricity consumers will benefit from a multi-million dollar payout this month.

During November, $30.9 million will be distributed to more than 55,700 TECT Consumers in individual cheque payments - averaging $555 per customer.

Only account holders who have had an account continuously from April 1 to September 30 this year, and live in the Tauranga or Western Bay of Plenty, are eligible for this year's payout.

Over the last 22 years the average payout amount has risen from $30 in 1993 to more than $550 this year.

The minimum amount for this years' cheque is $435 which is $10 up from last year.

In the last 22 years, TECT has distributed $306m back to its consumers, and $93m to a variety of local community organisations including Tertiary Education Campus, Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter, Baywave, TECT All Terrain Park, ASB Arena, Waipuna Hospice and St Johns.

TECT general manager Wayne Werder said the organisation would support more than 200 organisations and causes in the 2015/16 year.

An announcement from TECT yesterday said cheques would be distributed just before Christmas.
