A set of traffic lights are out after being hit by a truck early this morning.

Traffic lights on State Highway 2 Hewletts Rd at the entrance to the Tauranga Bridge Marina were flashing orange at 8.05am.

A police spokeswoman said there was a report of a truck hitting a street pole in the area at 5am this morning.

The southbound lane was blocked for a short time but is now clear.
