Part-owner Tony Coles decided to send the horse to Ruakaka to be trained by Donna Logan and Chris Gibbs and a succession of winner's sashes has followed.
All Roads has won five races since the move with McCulloch riding him to five of those.
She says her main plan pre-race was to get him relaxed and to settle early.
"He has got the gears to pick them up like he did so I wasn't really too worried that I was back so far. He pulled himself up a bit when he hit the front but he managed to hold on.
"This is a nice race to in. It is worth 100,000," she said with a smile.
Also smiling was trainer Gibbs who was highly impressed with McCullough's perfectly judged ride.
"We always enjoy coming to Tauranga and Tauranga Racing Club has always been a great contributor to racing and putting on a lovely time for everybody," he said.
"This particular race was high on our target list for this horse. It is such a lovely race and it is has been going 46 years with the wonderful relationship with the Japan Racing Association.
"We are really happy."
Gibbs did not say too much pre-race to McCulloch as that can be counter-productive.
"I just said you know this horse so be confident you are on the horse that can win because he is spot on. I said the inside is starting to come back so if you come too wide you cannot win.
"She just sat quietly and she knew he has a burst of speed, like really good acceleration, and she rode him beautifully. He just burst through and that was the winning of the race."
The old adage that if something goes wrong you need to get back on the horse rang true for unlucky jockey Collett after she was thrown from Markey Mark.
She returned to the birdcage shaken and with some fresh grass stains on her silks but otherwise none the worse for her experience.
In true racing tradition she got straight back into her work, riding Ekarosa into fifth place in the next race.
