Three remain in hospital after serious crash near Paengaroa

A 2-year-old Te Puke boy is among the three people still in hospital following a serious crash near Paengaroa on Sunday night.

Four people were injured in the crash on State Highway 33, including the boy, a 26-year-old woman from Te Puke, a 23-year-old man from Te Puke and a 23-year-old man from Rotorua.

The 23-year-old man from Te Puke has since been released while the boy and other two adults remain in hospital in Tauranga Hospital in a stable condition.

Police were alerted to the two-vehicle crash near Allport Rd at around 10pm on Sunday.

Initial reports suggested those involved in the crash were seriously injured.

Due to the incident, emergency services closed the road which has since been reopened.
